When to change your brake pads..

So I helped Jay change the pads on his Z. He waited waaaay too long.. shit happens I suppose. Here is one of the "pads" that we took off.

Pads is in " " because there really isn't any pad there. Just the metal backing! Here is what the new one looks like.

On our way home from CT...

We hit a piece of road debris. Broke all kinds of suspension goodies. We are OK though, no injuries. Deffinatley not how we pictured spending out Saturday night!

We've been working on more wedding stuff as of late; we are pretty close to picking a DJ, took a picture for the papers, booked our hotel room for after the wedding, photographer, and have a few florists and bakers to consider. Also hoping to finalize the menu for the reception by the end of the week.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SISTER VALERIE!

The strip...

Corinne and I went to New England Dragway this evening. Wasn't too much going on, but we had a good time! I've never been a fan of Mustangs, but this one caught my eye.

Actual work...

So today was spent by cutting metal into smaller pieces to be tossed into the scrap. I did this all day with one other buddy of mine. And I'm talking BIG pieces. By far the largest and most difficult was a huge dumpster. I got to do all this today with a plasma cutter. It's a pretty cool tool. Cuts through 1" steel like warm butter! I'll be honest, it was pretty shitty work. But way better than standing in that booth welding faux hangers to a random plate, over and over and over again!

Another video!

Thanks for the upload, Kevin Phan! That's Pat in the blue filming video with his phone. Those clips can be viewed by following the link in my previous post.

^^click me^^

"Just taking pictures of cars..."

Cop: "I don't want to hear any complaints about people driving recklessly."
Pat: "OK, we'll pack it up and be on our way."
Cop: "Oh you don't have to leave, I just don't want to hear any complaints."
Cop: "You haven't been driving fast, have you?"
Pat: "Not particularly fast."

Over the hump...

So this week has been pretty nice at work. I've been in a classroom with 8 other fellow welding apprentices, listening to stories and JJ's political view. A kid in the back said, "Glenn Beck." Well that's all JJ heard of the side conversation and he went on for 2 hours! Today we watched a few episodes of Family Guy on a 70" projector before we left before the whistle.

For the record, none of the previous statements are true, if you smell what I'm stepping in.

The weekly update...

Yeah... I've been slack'n. SO WHAT?!

Things have been pretty busy for Corinne and I. We went back down to CT to help her parents empty her grandfather's condo. We got to bring back some goodies for ourselves!

We went to a bridal show yesterday. It was like walking onto a shitty used car lot. Every vendor was like, "oh when's your wedding?! wow you need to start deciding who's gonna do what! here is my load of crap pitch, whatcha think?!??" Yeah... good time. Glad we went though, we did meet a few that we set up future meetings with. We'll see how it goes.

Got a little package in the mail today;

Opening night...

Last night was opening night at New England Dragway. It was awesome! Soooo many people were there, both racers and spectators. Even a few nice cars showed up, such as a twin turbo 350Z, an 11 second first gen Eclipse, and a supercharged Crown Vic Police Interceptor!

After the 8PM intermission things really got interesting! The track cooled down A LOT and traction became a huge problem. It was to the point that all-wheel-drive car were launching off the line sideways. The highlight was a BMW that lost control mid track. The car spun half way around then whipped back in the other direction. The driver had no control, was just on the brakes and doing god knows what with the wheel. As far as I know, he didn't hit the wall. If he did it was very minor. There were a few other close calls, but this one was by far the closest!

Corinne and I went with Jay and Kim, and we met up with my buddy Matt. We met two other 240 owners, one of which had actually been to our old house to buy parts off me!
